LAWYER REFERRAL SERVICE AND DIAL-A-LAW

The Lawyer Referral Service was established in Vancouver in 1955 by the Law Society of BC. In 1971 responsibility for the service transferred to the Canadian Bar Association.

Lawyer Referral is designed to assist the general public in finding the right lawyer. For those who are not sure if they have a legal problem they may call the Lawyer Referral Service. An operator will provide you with the name and phone number of a lawyer in your area. Once you contact the law office to make your appointment you are entitled to up to a half hour consultation for $10. The lawyer will tell you whether or not you have a legal problem. If you both agree you may proceed with hiring the lawyer at the regular rate.
