Peace Arch Community Services
Help is just a phone call away. Peace Arch Community
Services is a community based non-profit organization that is committed to
providing quality information and referrals to people in need. The organization
operates in the White Rock, Surrey, Langley and Delta areas.
Phone calls to the help line vary in topic. Out of the 374
requests for referrals from September 2003 to January 2004, eighty-four were
from people enquiring about rides for medical/dental appointments, seventy-one
calls about health and nutrition for children, adolescents and adults, and
thirty-nine requests for information about the shop by phone program.
“We rely on the generosity of our community partners to
help fund programs and services that are often critical for citizens who live
in the communities that we serve,” says Karen Sanders, Peace Arch Community
Services.
Some of the other programs offered by Peace Arch Community
Services include residential programs for children and youth, an employment
resource center and a food bank. Peace
Arch Community Services is also dedicated in assisting with long-range
community planning by identifying gaps and duplication of services.
"Our mission is to identify a broad
spectrum of human needs on the Semiahmoo Peninsula and beyond and respond to
them in a creative, caring and fiscally responsible way. This is achieved by
providing information, services, advocacy and working with other individuals,
groups and organizations in a way that promotes involvement, self-reliance and
expresses a spirit of community."
Peace Arch Community Services is fully accredited through
the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services.
