Terasen announces gas boiler program
It seems inevitable that natural gas prices for the
next heating season (2005-2006) are going to rise. Any means of reducing gas
consumption will be of interest to strata councils. If your strata is using
gas-fueled boilers for heating you may be interested in the recent announcement
by Terasen Gas of their new Efficient Boiler Program.
This limited-time program
offers building owners, including strata corporations, purchase price
incentives to retrofit high efficiency boilers into replacement projects. The
program also provides up to $2000 for required venting modifications and up to
$400 to estimate the space-heating load in your building so that your new
boiler is accurately sized. In addition, they will provide you with an
incentive to monitor your boiler during the first year of operation as well as
a bonus proportionate to the amount of natural gas saved.
As space-heating accounts
for the largest portion of a building’s natural gas use, the program was
developed to promote greater energy efficiency in existing buildings. Your
strata will benefit by having a property that is more marketable to prospective
buyers who value the long-term energy and greenhouse gas emission reductions
associated with high-efficiency heating equipment.
The program application
period closes on December 31, 2006.
