Looking
for a FUN and REWARDING Volunteer Position?
Look no more…we have just the position for you! All
you need to do is join the amazing team of volunteers at Langley Hospice’s
Thrift Store who have this to say about their work:
“I love the camaraderie!”
“This is a fun place to work – I enjoy working with
all the other volunteers – it’s a good feeling working for such a worthwhile
cause.”
“I like knowing we’re doing some good in the
community, and the fact that funds stay in this community.”
“When my husband died, my reasons for volunteering
were selfish. I have discovered that I can never give back close to what I have
been given by the staff and store volunteers. I now have a purpose for getting
up and look forward to coming to the store. The camaraderie and esprit de corps
of this place is incredible for a person’s sense of well being!”
Volunteering with Second Story Treasures would
allow you to become part of this unique experience in which the camaraderie,
connection to community and upbeat environment are second to none. Volunteers
work hard but have fun as they sort and price items, create displays, work on
cash (optional) and provide customer service.
Affectionately known as the “Department Store of
Walnut Grove”, Second Story Treasures is more than a Thrift Store. Customers
often drop in, not just to shop, but also to enjoy the camaraderie and
companionship they find there. While many friendships have developed between
volunteers, they are very welcoming to newcomers. And if you’re looking for a
place where you are truly needed…you can be guaranteed of that at the Thrift
Store! We are desperately short of volunteers so, should you choose to join the
team, your efforts will be very much appreciated. And they will contribute
directly to Langley Hospice’s ability to provide compassionate support to
palliative clients and those who are bereaved—a very satisfying feeling!
Shifts are Monday to Saturday 9:30–1:30 and
1:00–5:00, with flexibility, and you can work at home sorting puzzles, jewelry,
etc. There are fashion shows, theme days, fundraisers, monthly meetings,
workshops, potlucks and other social events, should you wish to participate.

fantastic volunteer position, please contact Karen Sanders, Volunteer Development
